The annual meeting between the Association of Motoring Writers Groups (AMWG) and the MIPAA Executive & Operating Committees took place on 16 August 2011. Notes of the meeting are available via this link
Key points relate to:
- concerns over length of working days for some launches
- trend for media to avoid conferences and dinner on launches
- access to loan vehicles for photography/video shoots
- availability in advance of disclaimer documents
- contact with car delivery drivers
- upper age limits for vehicle loans*
Other topics discussed covered a review of group membership policies, media trends, impact of the Bribery Act, new media influencers, evaluation of media coverage including the NLA online clipping copyright issue and plans to extend the meeting into a wider MIPAA Media Symposium in 2012.
* The Guild of Motoring Writers has provided the following statement regarding the Equalities Act for reference by MIPAA members:
We believe and understand car companies will make their own decisions as to who may or may not drive their cars using whatever criteria they wish. We would like all Guild members with relevant outlets to have access to cars and information to do their jobs. We understand that sometimes these two aims may conflict and in such an event we would seek to mediate with both parties on an impartial basis.
